The R stands for Rotimi and is one of nearly a half dozen names I was given thirty-six years ago.
Originally from Nigeria, I moved with my parents and younger siblings to Texas in 1998. As part of the immigrant experience, I attended schools in the Dallas area and was expected to pursue a career either in the engineering or medical field. I caught the creative bug early on and studied art instead, with a focus on design. My search for creative outlets didn’t stop there, and now I write speculative fiction as well.
Currently, I live just outside Dallas, where I work professionally as a visual designer. However, most of my time is spent raising two young kids with my wife and drawing any inspiration I can from the Texas heat.
